Volunteer Strathcona – SnowBusters

“Be a great neighbor! Sign up to be a SnowBuster and get matched with a senior or resident with physical limitations in your neighborhood to shovel snow from their driveway and/or walkways. You will be helping to build community and keep seniors living in their homes longer by allowing them to safely get in and out of their homes and reduce the risk of injury. This opportunity is also open to teams, couples, youth (with supervision) and businesses!”

“Volunteers are needed for various events and positions throughout the year such as photographers, registrations, inflatable attractions, security, mascots and much more. Events include; Pitch in, Canada Day Festival, Celebrations of Lights, New Year’s Eve & New Year’s Day.”

 

Common Ground Community Cafe – Barista

“Our baristas will make cafe drinks, bake, and keep the Cafe running. Training is provided so no experience necessary! Shifts are on average 3 hours long and can be picked to suit your schedule. Please note that our volunteers must be available for the same shift at least every other week.”

Strathcona County’s New Year’s Eve Festival

“Each year Strathcona County requires help from volunteers to run several events, including the New Year’s Eve Festival. The New Year’s Eve Festival takes place in Broadmoor Lake Park, Festival Place, the Sherwood Park Arena and Sports Centre, and the Community Centre on December 31, 2019, from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.

The only qualifications required to volunteer are a desire to have fun and help individuals! There is no minimum age for volunteers; however we ask that those under the age of 12 have a parent/guardian or older sibling volunteer with them. We will be happy to do our best to accommodate any specific needs you might have in regards to volunteering.

What activities and events can you take part in?

• Interactive areas: edible art, LEGO, snowshoeing, campfire cooking
• Crafts: Pineapple pine cone, ukuleles, glow volcanoes and plumeria wristbands
• Information Booths and Volunteer Reception
• Wagon rides
• And MORE!”
