Looking for Recreation Assistant Volunteers in Sherwood Park location!
Volunteers make a difference in residents’ lives by providing comfort, companionship and assisting during recreations programs such as
- Music
- Bowling
- Crib
- Bingo
- Fitness
- Baking
- Crafts
- Special Events & much more
Volunteers may work independently or with recreation staff to provide opportunities and support to our Long-Term Care residents. Encouraging resident involvement in recreation programming and individual leisure activities is key!
Volunteers are needed to assist with program setup. Engaging with and assisting residents during programming, as well as portering residents to and from activities is essential.
The recreation program follows a monthly activity calendar. Scheduled activities generally happen Monday to Friday during the day:
Morning shifts 9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Afternoon shifts 1:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. depending on the activity
Currently, we do not have recreation programs on evenings or weekends

Qualifications: Select CapitalCare Strathcona (Sherwood Park)
- Enjoy socializing with residents in continuing care
- Accept direction and follow guidelines
- Good English communication skills and a positive attitude
- Ability to porter
- Reliable, independent and trustworthy
- Ongoing regular daytime volunteers are especially needed!
