Night to Shine is an unforgettable prom-night experience for people with special needs 16+. Honoured Guests can expect a free red-carpet entrance, paparazzi, photos, karaoke, dance, salon services, banquet dinner and more! â
Night to Shine operates on a 1:1 volunteer-to-guest ratio. Caregivers are welcome to relax in our respite room for the evening while each honoured guest will be hosted by a volunteer buddy. Additional volunteers will be needed to set up, lead activities, to help with food preparation and service, and more. There's a role for everyone!

The Canadian Birkebeiner Society is looking for volunteers for the 40th Anniversary celebration on February 8th, 2025!
It takes around 500 volunteers to plan, organize and run the Birkie each year. Some people work on committees year-round, while others help out for several hours on Birkie weekend.
Volunteering is a great way to meet new folks, have a lot of fun and contribute to the Birkie! We can use your help.
Volunteer areas include: âď¸Â Chief of Transportation âď¸Â Parking attendants & Drivers - Shifts start at 7 AM to 6 PM âď¸Chief of Festival Tent (food preparation, serving warm drinks, cooking, cleaning up tables, making coffee etc.) - Shifts from 8 AM to 6 PM âď¸Awards Area (finish line, collecting timing chips etc.) - Shifts from 10 AM to 6 PM

We collaborate with local businesses and community agencies to support people, primarily women and children, as they transition to a life free of violence.Â

The Strathcona Shelter Society (A Safe Place) operates an emergency shelter for women and children, a crisis and family violence information line, provides community outreach, and public education to end domestic violence in our community.
They are currently seeking volunteers for the following positions:
Kitchen Support: opportunities available Mon-Sun 9am-12:30pm and 6-9pm
Donation Support: Weekdays, flexible
Donation Pick-up: Mondays and/or Wednesday afternoons â must have vehicle to transport items
Qualifications:
Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector, Intervention Record Check
Valid Food Safe (for Kitchen Support).Â
*A Safe Place will assist and direct successful applications on how to obtain the qualifications.*
Must be physically able to lift and move items, stand for a period of time, and use stairs.
From May-October, we host fun events for our community such as guided animal tours, a magical forest, and goat yoga!
However, this winter we are focusing on re-developing our program so that it is planned and ready to launch for the spring and make our vision come to life! Part of this involves building on our magical forest experience! This is perfect for those creative, artists, and designers!
Duties may include:
Brainstorming themes, activities, or other ideas to enhance the magical forest experience
Creating DIY projects, works of art, and signs while working with a set budget provided by Dreamcatcherâ˘
Helping with designing & setting up the forest with the items we already have & with the new items created by you! (spring) Note: this position is hybrid, though most of it can be done remotely!
This is also great for volunteering with children or families!
