In these pages students, teachers, parents, and organizations will find resources, information, and inspiration to get involved in their community. About Us


  • An initiative of the Information & Volunteer Centre for Strathcona County
  • A program designed for all youth, encouraging them in and teaching them about community  volunteering.


  • Encourage, celebrate, support and promote youth volunteerism
  • Mobilize young people to be active community members, both  now and in the future
  • Lead the community in recognizing and celebrating youth
  • Educate young people on the value of volunteering and how to become involved
  • Support youth-led volunteer projects
  • Promote youth volunteerism to community organizations


  • Provide accessible “Youth Volunteer Information” in schools, community locations and online
  • Provide current Youth Volunteer Listings  to help young people find specific volunteer opportunities within the Strathcona community
  • Class presentations to students (kindergarten—grade 12) to educate and create awareness
  • Coordinate & initiate youth-led service projects in our community
  • Celebrate and promote youth volunteerism year round, especially during National Volunteer Week
  • Partner with youth-friendly community groups to create initiatives that foster youth involvement
  • Supply certificates, confirmation letters, referrals and references to celebrate youth volunteer accomplishments and aid in further initiatives.


  • To reinforce the belief that young people do care about their community
  • To show that young people will respond to a community need when given the opportunity, with energy, enthusiasm and new ideas 
  • To provide the encouragement, support and opportunity for youth volunteer involvement
