Sherwood Park, Alberta (May 15, 2018) – The Information & Volunteer Centre for Strathcona County (IVC) announces the appointment of three new members of its Board of Directors, as well as the full slate of officers and board members for 2018.

Joining the Board of Directors are Bonnie Hoffmann, Derek Newman and Cassandra Tomas. “All three of our newest Directors embody the spirit of community and bring energy, talent and expertise to the Board. We are fortunate to have them at the table as we continue to strengthen community in Strathcona County,” said Judy Ferguson, Executive Director.

Derek Newman has been a life time Strathcona County community member and grew up around the “Tax Exempt’ (aka Non-profit) sector. Having played years of football with the local clubs he grew into a life of fitness and competition. After studying business at the University of Alberta, Derek joined a family run consulting firm, Newman Consulting. Derek believes in investing into good people to do great things.

She completed the 150 for 150 Volunteer Challenge in 2017 and is now pleased to take her volunteerism to the next level by becoming a member of the IVC board of directors. Cassandra is a resident of Sherwood Park, graduated from the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Alberta, and currently works as a Materials Engineer at Sherritt International.

She advocates at the public policy level and looks forward to being a part of the new IVC.
