COVID-19

Updated: May 29, 2020

In light of the COVID-19 virus and the newly declared state of emergency, Volunteer Strathcona, with support from Imperial Oil is taking appropriate measures to reduce possible exposure and spread of the virus as directed by Alberta Health Services (AHS).
This webpage contains our most up-to-date information and resources. Please check back often for updates.

Office Closure:

Effective March 17, 2020, the Volunteer Strathcona office is closed to the public. In spite of this, we will continue to be operational as staff can be reached by phone (780-464-4242) or email (info@volunteerstrathcona.ca). Please refer to our contact page for more detailed staff contact information.

Cancelled Programs and Events:

  • Social Media Basics Part C: Analytics – March 26, 2020. A new date will be selected and those currently registered will be contacted directly.
  • Tax Clinics – Due to the closure of the Strathcona County Library (where clinics are hosted) and an announcement made by e4c (the overseeing organization for Tax Clinics), we are not scheduling clients for the next 2 weeks. We are asking that residents contact us after April 14th, 2020 as we are hoping to have clearer direction by this time.
  • Meals on Wheels – Due to our office closure and our attempt to minimize the spread of the virus for both staff and clients, we will not be facilitating the frozen meals program at this time and are referring clients directly to Meals on Wheels Edmonton.
  • Board Leadership Edmonton – Following the Government of Alberta’s mass gathering restrictions, this conference has been cancelled. For more information and information on refunds, please visit their webpage.
